Robert J. Friedland

Robert J. Friedland founded Essential Human Capital in 2009. He worked for more than thirty years as a senior-level executive recruiter, completing hundreds of searches for sales, finance, marketing, investments, capital markets and operations professionals. His clients included: financial technology companies, hedge funds and portfolio companies of private equity firms, broker-dealers and banks. Understanding the unique value of adding coaching to recruitment, retention and development, Robert became a Certified Professional Coach in 2014. He is an expert in 3 coaching niches-

Executive Coaching-Robert works with executives and middle management professionals on growing and honing their leadership, communication and team building skills.

Career Transition Coaching-Working with professionals transitioning to new roles, companies or industries, Robert helps them align their core values and competencies with their assessment of new career opportunities and the challenges presented by a new role or career.

Team Coaching-Robert helps to develop high-functioning teams that maximize the combined experience, energy and wisdom of each of its members. His coaching focuses on the “3 Cs” Communication, Collaboration and Clarity.

Coaching honors Robert's long-standing commitment to being of service to people in both his personal and professional lives.  He spent the first seven years of his career running a group home for blind adults in Manhattan.  He subsequently worked in operations within a family business before beginning his career in executive search. Robert earned a B.A. in Political Science from the State University at Albany. He became a Certified Professional Coach and ELI-Master Practitioner (ELI is an attitudinal assessment tool) through IPEC, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching.
